Setting up a fundraiser online can be overwhelming. Asking for donations from your friends and family can be daunting, but we’re here to help with these fundraising tips!
Designate an Advocate
Having someone who can speak on your behalf while you’re going through hard times can be a lifesaver. Advocates are people you designate to be your voice if you’re unavailable. These valuable people also know your network and can help share your story with those who are most likely to donate. When selecting an advocate, choose someone who knows your situation personally. We recommend a trusted family member or close friend.
Film a Video
If you’ve been on social media lately, you know how popular videos are. In fact, 100 million hours of video are watched on Facebook each day! Filming a video is simple, and many editing software tools are available to help you produce your very own short film. Topics for videos can include why you’re fundraising, updates and progress, or thanking your donors. For more on how to make the best video for social media, read this article.
Make a Project Update
Keeping your supporters informed is a great way to keep them engaged and interested in your fundraiser. Sharing an update on your page is simple. Just sign in, visit the “My Campaigns” tab, and click on your current project. From there, you can write your update and share it to your page. It’s automatically sent to all of your donors!
Share, Share, Share
Don’t forget to share your project with your family, friends, and community! Post your campaign on all your social media pages, contact your local media outlets, and make sure to mention it in your daily conversations. Encourage your friends and family to do the same. The more attention your project receives, the more likely you are to reach your goal.
