We’ve all been waiting for it, and it’s finally here…SUMMER! There is so much to love about this season: warm weather, sunshine, barbeque. Why not use the things everyone loves about summer to rally support for your Red Basket fundraiser? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Cookout – Enjoy good food and good company while asking for donations. Either charge for meal tickets or ask for free-will donations.

Sand volleyball tournament – Gather supporters for a little fun competition. Charge an entry fee with all money donated to your Red Basket fundraiser.

Water games – Water balloons, squirt guns, a giant slip and slide… there are a lot of ways to have fun with water. Attendees will be able to cool off in a fun way and you can raise money for your Red Basket fundraiser.

Race/walk – It’s the perfect time of year to hold an outdoor race or walk. Ask for an entry fee or challenge participants to get pledges in order to raise money for your Red Basket fundraiser.

Movie at the park – Rent out a space and a screen and show your favorite summer flick. Sell tickets and snacks to support your Red Basket fundraiser.

Outdoor concert – Know some local talent? Chances are they would be happy to help you put on a fundraiser in exchange for some great exposure!

Car wash – It may sound cliché, but it’s a great way to raise some funds in support of your Red Basket fundraiser.

Farmers market booth or fair – Have a local farmers market or county fair coming up this summer? See if you can set up a booth at one of these events. Draw some attention with a fun activity, raise awareness about your fundraiser, and collect donations!

Whatever one (or two!) of these fun summer fundraising ideas you choose to do, always remember to take advantage of the opportunity to not only collect donations in support of your Red Basket fundraiser, but also to raise awareness about it. Include the URL to your Red Basket fundraiser on all of your signs, flyers, banners, emails, etc. Make announcements about your fundraiser at your event and have a laptop set up to collect online donations during your event. When promoting your event, make certain to tell those who cannot attend your event that they still have a way to support you online via RedBasket.org.

Once your event is complete, click here to learn how to apply all of the donations you received to your Red Basket fundraiser.

Best wishes for some summer fun(draising) in the sun!
